April Chapter Meeting –

Date: Monday, April 3rd

Time: Meeting - 6 to 8 (with FREE Pizza arriving at 6:30)

Location: Auburn Sportsman’s Club
50 Elm St, Auburn, MA 01501

Hello Central MA Chapter,

We are seeing some warming and some nice bug activity. Time to take those cob webs off the rod and reel and prepare for the Spring Season.

The April meeting will have a twist. We have some very nice Bourbon Glasses on order. These will become the meeting project as we add a customer feature to the glass that will take your Bourbon (or ice water) experience to the next level. The first 12 members to arrive at the meeting (April 3 at 6:00 PM) will be able to take one of these glasses and make this into a masterpiece that will be a discussion point going forward. This will require minimal skill. We have a custom template that will make this very easy. All you have to do is dab on some special paint, let sit for an hour and take home and bake at 350. When finished, you will enjoy your favorite drink in a glass that only 11 others have in the world!!!

But there is more. We will have a raffle of some of the fly rods we've accumulated over the last year. These are either brand new or gently used. This is a great opportunity to fill a hole in your selection or try something new. We will also discuss taking some of these rods and creating outfits for our membership to borrow - this could include rods and reels for striper fishing not too far away on Cape Cod.

And opportunities continue, The MA council announced the Caddis Weekend on the Deerfield River the first weekend in June. Here is the announcement:

"Good Morning,

2023 Caddisfest Weekend

The 2023 Caddisfest Weekend will be held Friday, June 2nd thru Sunday, June 4th. This year the event will be held at the Foolhardy Hill Campground in Charlemont MA. The Campground is a TU Business partner and is giving us a 10% discount. We have secured the entire campground. Keep in mind that this is guaranteed low flow weekend for the Deerfield River. The campground is on Zoar Rd., right off of Route 2 in Charlemont.

Here are some details about the Campground sites and cabins. There are 5 cabins with 3 or 4 bunk beds and 6 multiple tent sites. For more information on the campground go to

https://www.foolhardyhill.com

This will be a first come first serve reservation system. All reservations will be made directly to me at hsweren8@aol.com and checks can be made out to the MA TU council and mailed to Henry Sweren, PO Box 624, Lanesborough, MA 01237. The fees are as follows.

Cabins are $100 per person at least double occupancy for the weekend.

Tent sites are $50 per person at least double occupancy for the weekend.

Agenda for the event.

Check in anytime after 3pm on Friday.

Myself and other local fishermen/women will be available during the weekend to show guests some good fishing spots along the Deerfield River.

Friday evening meet and greet at the campfire 9pm.

We will discuss during the April meeting and continue discussion to create a plan that can include as many as possible that are interested in the Central MA chapter.

As always, we have pizza on the menu and, as my wife has a treatment in Boston earlier that day, I will be in attendance and provide instruction on how to create for special drinking glass.

And - Get out there and get your casting game on! Time is now.

Enjoy,

Peter
