Central MA Chapter of Trout Unlimited – May Newsletter May Chapter Meeting – Hope you’ve all had a chance to get out to fish in April. The fish have been staying deep due to the cooler weather. May and warmer weather should trigger the hatches, starting with the Hendricksons in a couple of weeks. Upcoming events: May 14th meeting: Tenkara demonstration with Bill Doyle Tenkara fishing is a simplified, traditional Japanese method of fly fishing that uses a long, telescoping rod (typically 9–13 feet) with a fixed line, eliminating the need for a reel. It is highly effective for mountain streams, offering precise, drag-free drifts and extreme portability (collapsing to ~20 inches June 5th though the 7th-Caddis Fest at the Fool Hardy Hill Camp Ground, in Charlemont, MA on the Deerfield River June through August- NO CMTU meetings The chapter gathering is free to attend and open to all, regardless of whether you are a Trout Unlimited member or not. Pizza will be provided, and drinks are available through the club. Donations are accepted.and are appreciated. We received a thank you note from the Wareham Land Trust for our $250.00 donation for the acquisition of a parcel of land, known as the Beaver Path (Follo-Beacher Woods) in Wareham, MA. The Southeast, MA Chapter of TU is involved in the project and asked other MA chapters for their help in this acquisition. The Wareham Land Trust will begin the work of restoring habitat, improving access and ensuring that this treasured place is protected for future generations.
